Forward to a Colleague
September 18, 2007
Mark your calendars
as U2FP announces dates and venue for Working 2 Walk 2008. The dates are Sunday, April 13 - Tuesday, April 15, 2008. We are excited to work with the Kellogg Conference Hotel at Gallaudet University, located in the heart of Washington, DC, as the headquarters for Working 2 Walk. A block of modern, accessible hotel rooms will be offered at a discount rate, with all meetings scheduled in the same building as lodging.

The Working 2 Walk Organizing Committee is already in full swing planning an exciting agenda of speakers, roundtable discussions, and entertainment. Our thanks to Matt Langenhorst, Barbara Mace, Donna Sullivan, and Joe White for volunteering to help orchestrate all the details of this year's event.

We'll have more details as they become available in future newsletters and on U2FP's website.

Two more important events
in our community are coming up soon. The Stem Cell Summit is just two short weeks away, October 2-3 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston. Led by the Genetics Policy Institute, Harvard Stem Cell Institute, and Burrill and Company, the Summit features an outstanding lineup of speakers and discussion leaders. One look at the agenda will have you salivating. Visit the Summit website for more information and a complete schedule.

Out on the West Coast, Americans for Cures has just announced dates for a State of Stem Cell Advocacy Forum. It will be held at the Mission Bay Community Center in San Francisco, November 10 & 11. Keynote speakers are two champions of change for stem cell research policy: Michael J. Fox, who successfully made stem cell research a campaign issue in 2006, and Robert Klein, who successfully led the fight for $3 billion in research funding.

This event will provide a unique perspective on how stem cell research policy affects our society, and what patient and political advocates can do to move this life-saving research forward. Registration information will be found in future emails from Americans for Cures. If you just can't wait, email inform@americansforcures.org or call 650-812-9303 to reserve your spot.

Your presence at these events will make a difference!

Bridges 2 Hope

"Charlene Vine, Murphys CA, United States

T-10, April 2000

I became paralyzed in a snowboarding accident. I went off a badly built jump and landed on an up-slope, breaking my vertebra that cut my cord. Amazing how life can change in an instant."

Bridges 2 Hope continues to grow. The 2006 print edition is a powerful advocacy tool that should be shared with scientists, legislators, investors, and anyone else associated with the cure effort. B2H gives a face and voice to paralysis, providing a small glimpse into the everyday struggles of those who live the life.

If you haven't done so already, contribute your story to the online edition here.

Copies of the print edition are available for $10 each (including shipping). Place your order here.
