We write to you today with a very important mission -
let's get the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Act enacted! We
have good information that the Senate H.E.L.P Committee is discussing
this legislation. We need your immediate help in contacting your
Senators. With the August recess one week away, time is of the
essence.
The SCREA vote & veto has come and gone but our fight has not
stopped. Let's utilize this defeat in a proactive manner and leverage
the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Act. Our attainable goal is to get
this legislation out of committee and on to the Senate floor for a
vote.
This will not happen without YOUR help.
What can you do?
Contact your Senators. Ask for two things:
1) If he/she is already a CRPA co-sponsor, thank them and ask
that they champion the bill with leadership to bring the bill to a
vote.
2) If they are not a co-sponsor, ask them to become one and to
further champion the bill with leadership to bring the bill to a vote.
Tell them all this is a prime opportunity to do the right thing
and pass legislation in support of millions of paralyzed Americans.
Remind them the CRPA is not a disease specific piece of legislation.
If it does not pass the Senate during this session, it likely
will not be re-introduced. This is our last chance and best
opportunity to get this bill enacted. Please take the time to reach
out to your Senators, and ask them to do the right thing by passing
this legislation. Contact information for your Senators can be found
here. Phone, fax and/or e-mail
are all effective; Senate offices keep a running chart of how many
contacts they receive regarding a specific piece of legislation.
Thank you.

Go Forward
The CRPA will fund a number of very promising research projects
that are in danger of running out of dollars, including the work of
Drs. Stephen Davies, John McDonald, and the Miami Project. It will
directly benefit YOU. It is our only avenue for federal funding of
research dedicated to a cure for paralysis.
Please share this message with anyone you know who might help us
get this act passed.
Every call to Congress matters.
When you have contacted your Senators, please reply to this
e-mail so that we can track for our records. 2 or 3 communications
before the August recess (scheduled for August 8) would be ideal.
