New Version - Sonic PDF 1.2
We recently released version 1.2 of our Sonic PDF Creator. It's a pretty good update and is free for full license users of version 1.0. Here is a quick run down of the key features and tools in the new version:

Included PDF Viewer - Users now have the ability to open and view existing and newly created PDF documents. The proprietary PDF viewer powers many of the new editing and formatting features.

Advanced Formatting Capabilities - The PDF creation process no longer ends with the created PDF document. Now users can use the following formatting features to enhance and format their PDF documents:

  • Rotate, Resize, Crop and Overlap Pages

  • Add Headers and Footers

  • Stamp Images and Watermarks

Advanced Document Toolkit - The PDF writer also provides users with a toolkit to make required changes to the structure of their PDF documents. The following tools are included in version 1.2:

Mr. Excel's Tip of the Month
Perform a Custom Sort in Excel
I used to work for a company where all of the reports had to be in East - Central - West sequence. Using a standard sort, there is no good way to do this in Excel. An ascending sort would put Central first and a descending sort would put West first. I ended up spending a lot of time cutting and pasting the various sections of the report into the proper order. Had I known this trick for a custom sort, the problem would have been easy.

To allow a custom sort, do a little bit of advance work.

  • Go to a blank spreadsheet and type your list in the proper order going down column A.
  • Highlight this range of cells
  • From the menu, select Tools - Options
  • On the Custom List tab, choose the Import button. This will add a custom list called East, Central, West to your copy of Excel.

To perform a custom sort, you must use the Sort dialog instead of the AZ button on the toolbar. In the Sort dialog, choose the Options button. In the Sort Options dialog, choose your custom list from the dropdown for First Key Sort Order.
