My Journey to Liberation: A teenager's reflection on re-discovering the joy of homeschooling By Willow McMahon

My Journey to Liberation: A teenager's reflection on re-discovering the joy of homeschooling By Willow McMahon I am sixteen years old and have liberated myself from public school, after attending for little less than three years. My first school experience was at the age of seven when I was enrolled in 2nd grade at a small school in our hometown. Up to that point, I had been homeschooled, fluctuating from child-directed to mother-directed learning styles. [read more]

Learn To Handwrite With Living Letters(r) Handwriting Program

Learn To Handwrite With Living Letters(r) Handwriting Program It is amazing how in the world of human endeavor, innovation never stops! The field of handwriting instruction is no different. A company called EduCLIME has developed a creative and unique package for teaching handwriting -- both print and cursive.

Although some people today dismiss the importance of handwriting, the fact is that clear, fast and comfortable penmanship is as necessary as ever - despite the seeming competition from computer keyboards. [read more]

The Good Old Days by Tisha McMeekin

The Good Old Days by Tisha McMeekin I received an email from my grandfather; it was an ironic lamentation of times past in the guise of humor. A page full of cartoon depictions and things mentioned, like: "Remember when there was no need for filters on your television because prime-time shows were I Love Lucy, Lassie and Ozzie and Harriet?" There was no air-conditioning, just open windows; so when a child fell off his/her bike, every Mom in the neighborhood ran outside to make sure he/she was alright. [read more]

LaserTyping Review by Linda Foster

LaserTyping Review by Linda Foster Let's face it, the importance of computers in our lives increases the importance of being able to type. It is no longer reasonable to think that "hunt and peck" typing will suffice in today's electronic age. When I first learned to type (sometime just after the extinction of dinosaurs), the popular method of learning was to sit in front of a typewriter (no computers available in those days) and practice each letter using the left hand and then each letter using the right hand. When Your Child Is Bullied By Laurisa White Reyes

When Your Child Is Bullied By Laurisa White Reyes When I was a kid, I spent one entire year tormented by a school bully. Every day this girl and her older sister would follow me home taunting and shoving me. As I grew older I learned to avoid bullies by becoming "invisible." Sadly, over the years I witnessed many other victims of bullies, but my fear prevented me from ever interceding on their behalf. [read more]

Art Education for your Child will Open a World of Possibilities by Magdalen Brown

Art Education for your Child will Open a World of Possibilities by Magdalen Brown All children have a natural inclination to draw and paint. Didn't your child draw simple pictures before learning to write? That natural urge to express oneself visually lies within each of us - and it should be given a chance to grow.
