HCS Technology Group is offering a new Canto Cumulus 7.5 training date!

March 11th and 12th. Day one (System Administrator and End User) will cover modules one and three below.

Day two will cover modules two and four below (Librarian and Developement Customization). The cost for both days is $998. You may also sign up for just one day at $499.

Classes start at 9:00 am on both March 11th and 12th and end at 5:00 pm.

Canto Training and Services:

Installations, Upgrades and Activation
Day One: Systems Administrator

Hardware and software qualification.

  • The hardware intended for the installation is checked to ensure theminimal requirements of the software to be installed. Previous versions of Canto software are removed according to the specifications of the operating environment.
  • The requisite networking connectivity is verified.
  • Server operating system is updated to the latest version where applicableand in accordance with IT manager.

Installation

  • Canto Cumulus Workgroup Server will be installed along with anyadditional components, (such as Web Publisher Pro) additional filters, modules and service packs.
  • When all of the installations have been completed, each component will belicensed and the entire installation will be activated via the web.
  • Cumulus Client installation, including service packs and any requiredEJAPs, will be demonstrated on a client machine.

Configuration

  • The System Administrator will be trained in the complete installation andoverall maintenance of the Cumulus product. Further, the SystemsAdministrator will learn, and be responsible for, remote access to the Cumulus server as well as catalog and directory structure, backups andmaintenance.
  • Using remote access, the Systems Administrator will verify the licensingof the Cumulus Workgroup Server and configure various settings to enable services as required by the end users. Using a common web browser, the Systems Administrator will verify that the Web PublisherModule is running and catalogs are accessible via the internet.

Review

  • Review the installation process and answer any additional questions thatthe Systems Administrator may have regarding the day’s material.

Training Day Two: Cumulus Librarian Training

Overview

  • Technical overview of the Cumulus product, its functionality andvocabulary.
  • Discussion of the role of the Cumulus Librarian and their responsibilities.
  • Hands on training of day to day activities using the Cumulus Client.
  • In depth training on the best practices including naming conventions,folder structure and file access.

Catalog Creation and Maintenance

  • Creation and deletion of Catalogs.
  • Providing catalog access to users running the Cumulus Client as well as those using common web browsers.

User Management

  • Creation and deletion of Cumulus Users.
  • Assigning specific rights to users for accessing catalogs, keywords, fields,etc.

Configuring Preferences

  • Editing Cumulus Client user preferences.
  • Configuring Asset Management sets.
  • Configuring Asset View sets.
  • Activating Modules and Filters.
  • Adding fields, Categories and Keywords.
  • Defining duplicate handling, field linking and centralized asset location.
  • Editing Cumulus Client user preferences.
  • Configuring Asset Management sets.
  • Activating Modules and Filters.
  • Adding fields, Categories and Keywords.
  • Defining duplicate handling, field linking and centralized asset location.

Workflow

  • Detailed discussion of the way assets move through the existing workflowwith a focus on the role Cumulus will play in the new workflow. Identify key areas where Cumulus will make the most significant impact anddiscuss ways to streamline the transition to the new workflow.
  • Develop a test environment to implement the proposed workflow prior torollout. Discuss ways to implement the final rollout.

Training Day Three: End User Training

Overview

  • Technical overview of the Cumulus product, its functionality andvocabulary.
  • Demonstration of the Cumulus Client software.
  • Accessing Catalogs with the Cumulus Client and a common web browser.
  • Hands on training of day to day activities using the Cumulus Client including adding, removing, copying, searching for and moving assets.
  • In depth training on the best practices including naming conventions,
    folder structure and file access.

Additional Functionality

  • Creation and deletion of Categories and Keywords.
  • Working with Collections.
  • Working with EJAPS.
  • Importing and Exporting Records and Categories.
  • Archiving Assets.
  • Adding Metadata to Assets and records.
  • Merging and Splitting Catalogs.
  • Creating a Web Album.
  • Creating a Slideshow.

Preferences

  • Editing Cumulus Client user preferences.

Workflow

  • Detailed discussion of the way assets move through the existing workflowwith a focus on the role Cumulus will play in the new workflow. Present the new workflow as determined by Cumulus Librarian.

Development Day Four: Development and Customization

Overview

  • Technical overview of the Cumulus Java Classes, Java Development andEJAP functionality.
  • Demonstration of Cumulus EJAPS.
  • Overview of Web Interface Customization.
  • Demonstration of HTML customization of Web Publisher Pro.
  • Discussion on the best practices.
