Working 2 Walk
is just over a month away, and important deadlines are approaching. Mark your calendar for the following:
March 13 is the last day to book lodging at our preferred rate at the Kellogg Conference Hotel. After this date there may still be rooms available, but the rate is not guaranteed. Everyone is encouraged to stay at KCH for its convenience and affordability. For those who do not stay onsite, an accessible shuttle service between Union Station and the conference center will be available.
March 15 is the last day to submit your story to Bridges 2 Hope for inclusion in this year's print edition. The books will be presented to researchers and legislators, and have proved to be a powerful advocacy tool. Our thanks to the Integra Foundation for providing funding support to this project.
March 15 is also the last day to apply for a Registration Grant. We strive to make Working 2 Walk affordable for all who want to participate, and thanks to the generosity of several contributors we have a number of grants to award. All applicants will be notified by March 22.
March 28 is our Registration deadline to guarantee your space at this year's two-day symposium. After that date we will accept registrations on a space-available basis only. Please note that our souvenir shirts will be ordered on March 15; we cannot guarantee sizing for registrations received after that date.

Brooke Ellison
is the latest addition to our outstanding lineup of speakers. Paralyzed in 1990 at the age of 11, Brooke has gone on to graduate magna cum laude from Harvard University and run for the New York State Senate. She and her mother, Joan, published a book documenting their story that was later made into a movie directed by Christopher Reeve. Brooke has spoken around the country in support of increased funding for research, and recently launched The Brooke Ellison Project. The Project seeks to promote informed understanding of stem cell research, and mobilize urgency into action that will propel science forward.
Details for this year's schedule of speakers and events are updated regularly on the Working 2 Walk website.

Capitol Hill Day
falls on April 15. What a perfect opportunity to tell our legislators how we want our tax dollars spent! This is an election year, and your representatives ought to be listening more carefully than ever to their constituents. The CDRPA is now being held up by one man, Sen. Tom Coburn, and while we are in Washington we need to speak with our senators about the urgency of getting this hold removed.
NOW is the time to make your legislative appointments. If you haven't done this before, step-by-step instructions can be found here.
Other details for Capitol Hill day are being finalized, including shuttle service to and from the Hill and a possible Congressional briefing. Our intrepid Washington advisors, Rachel Hammerman and Michael Manganiello, will again provide talking points for a targeted legislative agenda. Look for more information on the W2W website and in our upcoming newsletters.

For those who cannot attend
Working 2 Walk but would like to support the event, you can participate by
1. Submitting your story to Bridges 2 Hope. B2H continues to grow, and we will print an updated version for this year's legislative visits. It takes only a few minutes of your time to share your story, so if you haven't yet done so, do it here.
2. Make a financial contribution. Working 2 Walk is organized entirely by volunteers and supported by generous corporate sponsors, allowing us to keep the registration fee affordable. Still, the costs for venue rental, catering and equipment in Washington are enormous, and individual contributions help us to reach the break-even point. If you have the means to donate, visit our Contributions page.
