Onsite Child Care at Discovery Cove
Do you need childcare for just a few hours? Or maybe you have regular daycare service but need an occasional back-up? The FRC operates a drop-in hourly childcare service for well children. Limit 12 hours a week. Reservations recommended.

Onsite childcare is free to clients accessing services.

FRC meeting and conference rooms are available to any individual or organization needing a gathering place. Rooms are available seven days a week from 8am-11pm, with room capacities of 24-80 people. Rates vary from $35-$70/hour. more....

Meet the Welcome Center Staff!
Next time you're visiting the FRC, stop in at our Welcome Center to meet our front line staff! Our knowledgeable resource specialists include: Shahla Arsala, Eloisa Wolley, Sunhee Park, Jamilia Mohamed, Mary Do, Ofelia Jackman-Gamboa and our volunteers Damaris Dominguez, Nazia Azam and Victoria Perez. The Welcome Center staff comes to us through Fremont Healthy Start, a program of East Bay Agency for Children.

The FRC Welcome Center is open Monday-Friday from 8:00-4:00 at 39155 Liberty Street in Building ABCD. For more information, call 574-2000.

Family Economic Success Programs Thrive! FRC Receives Grant from Y&H Soda Foundation

The Fremont FRC has completed its fifth season of offering free income tax preparation services to low-income families in the Tri Cities, through participation in Alameda County's "Earn It! Keep It! Save It!" campaign. This year, we again surpassed our goals, assisting a total of 1076 families, helping them to claim $1,200,141 in federal refunds, of which $551,751 was due to the Earned Income Tax Credit. Easter Compassion When we give to others, we are doing something positive and life-changing in a world where problems often seem overwhelming. What would it be like to be hungry and to have no resources to provide an Easter dinner for your family? This Easter, the Fremont FRC partnered with CityServe Compassion Network to provide 116 local families (447 individuals) with Easter dinners. [read more]
Battered Spouses Deserve As Much Respect as Pets

Rodney Clark, SAVE (Safe Alternatives to Violent Environments) Executive Director, is a partner and Leadership Team member of the FRC. He wrote the following editorial for The Argus on September 7, 2007 and we wish to share his message.

As the executive director of Safe Alternatives to Violent Environments, an agency that provides prevention and intervention services to victims of domestic violence, I have followed the recent news about the Michael Vick dog-fighting controversy with some interest and a high level of disbelief.

Although I agree that the crime that he is accused of - animal abuse for fighting dogs - is unacceptable, I chafe at the response given this crime versus the attention and consequences given to the crime of beating a woman. [read more]

Volunteers Help Medi-Cal Applicants
On April 25 training was held at the FRC to learn how to assist customers applying for Medi-Cal. Alameda County Social Services (SSA) receives new requests for service every day. Many of the individuals applying for aid speak a language other than English and have difficulty filling out the necessary forms. [read more]

It may look like prostitution, but when young people are involved, it's more appropriately called "commercially sexually exploited children." Yes, it involves sex, but children are not consenting adults. And it does happen. Free or Low-Cost Home Repairs

Free or Low-Cost Home Repairs Many cities in Alameda County offer grants or low interest and deferred loans to help local homeowners repair their homes. Fremont, Union City and Newark all participate in home repair programs to income-eligible homeowners. Each city might have a different mix of programs with different program limits but most offer three primary programs - Minor Home Repairs, Rehabilitation Loans, and Accessibility Grants. [read more]
New Detox Center

Alameda County recently opened a new detox center in San Leandro called Cherry Hill Detox. The 32-bed facility serves adult men and women who are withdrawing from alcohol and other drug (AOD) use, and those who are also experiencing co-occurring mental disorders (COD). [read more]
