Message from our Embedded Systems General Manager
Whether most people know it or not, embedded devices are just about everywhere we look today. What used to require gears and sprockets now requires intelligent electronics. As technology advances, devices that used to include basic intelligence now include chips and processors with more power, and greater complexity.
The future of embedded computing will see compute power increase even further. As this power increases, it becomes easier to add new features and functionality to devices. The first step in creating the feature-rich devices we crave is matching this powerful hardware to an equally powerful software platform, and Linux®, is the right tool for the job.
Linux is not only powerful enough to meet demands today, but it is easily scalable to meet the compute requirements of tomorrow's devices. Linux's openness makes it the perfect fit for developers serving telecommunications, aerospace and defense, and commercial markets that want to leverage today's powerful COTS hardware.
Performance Technologies continues to be a leader in embedded Linux. Our CGL 3.2 registered NexusWare® software suite, along with its wide range of installable applications and protocols provide the power and flexibility required to build-in the features and functionality your application requires.
Linux will continue to grow well into the future and Performance Technologies will be there with it. We are excited about our upcoming NexusWare v12, which adds support for x86-processor SBCs and AMC processor modules. This version will be submitted for CGL 4.0 registration. Check out future issues of Packets & Signals for more on what CGL 4.0 registered software means for you and your business.
