Tri-Level Bachelor Degrees - A Solution for the Degree Crisis By Michael Leppert
I think it's time for a tri-level system of awarding college degrees. Too many assumptions are made about the knowledge and skill levels of college graduates - both in the workplace and in higher levels of learning, as well. These assumptions are often not borne out when the individual is put to the test in real life.

We Need Less School, Not More By John Taylor Gatto
A surprising number of otherwise sensible people find it hard to see why the scope and reach of our formal schooling networks should not be increasd -- by extending the school day or year, for instance -- in order to provide an economical solution to the problems posed by the decay of the American family.

Why Study Algebra? - An Answer for Readers of The Link By Illana Herzig Weintraub
The truth is that you really do not need algebra unless you plan to teach it or use it in a scientific profession. But . . . before you ax your algebra books, let me give you some good reasons for studying algebra.
Algebra is a very unique discipline.

Critical Thinking (Logic) By M. Joseph Treppel

One goal of many homeschoolers of widely-varied backgrounds is critical thinking or as it is also known, logic -- the science of reasoning correctly. C.S. Lewis, (author of The Chronicles of Narnia; The Screwtape Letters and The Great Divorce), for instance, was a master at reasoning.

Emarald Sun
Emerald-green water splashing on sugar-fine white quartz sand, as the warm sun bathes your skin, while you relax under a beach umbrella. Sounds just like paradise, doesn't it?
Actually, we're on the northwest coast of Florida... part of the emerald coast to be exact.

Teen Challenges By Erin Chianese
Our family's summer vacation was a trip to Catalina Island, one of the Channel Islands off the coast of southern California. Our teenage daughters each brought a friend and I must confess I worried about the friends for the first part of the trip. We were camping, snorkeling, and kayaking, which neither of the friends had done before.

Michele's Musings - Squelching Sibling Rivalry By Michele Hastings
The zit on your nose is so big it'd look like someone threw a pie in your face if you popped it!" chuckled Tymon to his younger brother. (Asher has white heads but rarely gets actual pimples, so this was just intended to rile him.)
Attempting to ignore him, Asher continued opening the can of tuna he'd hauled out of the cupboard for lunch.

Piecefully Yours (Concerning the Art of Quilting) By Julie M. Higginson
[The Link believes that homeschooling is only part of a larger world - that of family/home-centered living. We believe that it is important for us to revive and increase knowledge and awareness of many of the family activities that our American forebears engaged in, for our home-living edification.

Ten Things That Have Kept Me Sane (sort of) By Bette Solomon
Our son Bodie just finished seventh grade, and I have homeschooled him for six and a half years. He went to school briefly, in fourth and fifth grades. "I thought if you really loved learning, that's where you belonged," he explained later. Instead he encountered tedium, peer pressure, and lack of substance.

Time 4 Learning Review by Linda K. Foster

Every homeschool family faces a common challenge of selecting the "right" homeschool curriculum. Many families find that what fits one child, may not fit another. Or, what worked well one semester, may feel stale and stop working the next.
