Join the Alumni Association and our alumni volunteers for the alumni reunion Mass, "Alumni Can" food drive, 3-on-3 Alumni Basketball Tournament, inflatable sumo wrestling, a live magic show and much more. Inside LMU Zen Master to Give Speech and Lead Meditation at LMU
Thich Nhat Hanh, Zen master, poet, peace activist and author of 35 books, is the 2007-08 recipient of the Doshi Family Bridgebuilder Award, given annually to honor an individual dedicated to fostering understanding between cultures, peoples and disciplines. The event will include singing, guided meditation and a speech by Thich Nhat Hanh. [read more]

Community Service Alumna Sylvia Ciborowski Helps Tribe in Peru on a Fulbright Scholarship
Sylvia Ciborowski's initial goal upon receiving a 2007 Fulbright Scholarship was to study environmental policies in Peru's logging, mining, oil and gas industries. But after she visited the Achuars and decided that the indigenous tribe was being exploited by the oil industry, she realized her research needed a new focus. [read more]

8/25: Volunteer Opportunity: Loaves & Fishes Soup Kitchen Back to School Shopping Day
Time is running out to register for the Orange County Loaves & Fishes community service project, "Shopping for School Supplies," on Saturday, Aug. 25. Volunteers are needed to help prepare school supplies, and guides are needed for families as they "shop" for supplies with children from K-12 grades. [read more]

9/30: Volunteer Opportunity: 54th Annual Alumni BBQ
At last year's Alumni BBQ, we had more than 100 alumni volunteers flipping burgers and serving drinks to 1,800 guests. We need your help again this year! All alumni volunteers receive free admission to the BBQ and a special "Thank You" gift from the Alumni Association.

This exhibit features 45 black and white photographs from a series of portraits of African-Mexicans by Tony Gleaton. Taken in the late 1980s and early 1990s, Gleaton's photographs offer insight into a little-known aspect of Mexican culture. [read more]

LMU Alum Goes From Actor to Artist
From 1959 to 1963, Dwayne Hickman starred in the CBS situation comedy "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis," and his fresh, young face was as recognizable as that of David Letterman or CSI's Marg Helgenberger. But as Hickman carved out careers in acting and, later, TV show producing, he privately found immense satisfaction in another creative endeavor: painting. [read more]
